Alpha-mannosidosis is a rare autosomal recessive disorder which is caused by a deficiency of alpha-mannosidase enzyme. This enzyme plays an important role in breaking down complex carbohydrates in the lysosomes.
When the enzyme is not functioning properly, the carbohydrates accumulate in the lysosomes, leading to a variety of symptoms including intellectual disability, skeletal abnormalities, hearing loss, muscle weakness, and recurrent infections.
MMJ has been able to help individuals handle symptoms of both the disorder and side effects from their current medications. This includes help with pain, nausea, depression, and anxiety.
